The Season of Advent is a series of devotions and scripture readings as you prepare for Christmas. This season is the 4 weeks leading up to Christmas Day.
Advent means “coming” and “preparation” for from the Latin word ‘adventus’. This is a season of expectantly preparing to celebrate the first coming of Jesus while eagerly awaiting His second coming to establish His Kingdom, even as we celebrate his presence among us through the promised Holy Spirit. We have designed the Devotional to be used with families, churches, small groups and any other gatherings where folks want to get together and prepare the way of the Lord.
Enclosed you will find a devotional for each week. On the inside left panel is the general gathering opening. It is not necessary to have an Advent Wreath with candles. If you have no wreath, just continue as if you did. On the inside right panel and 5 days with scripture readings and discussion questions. The 5 days can be done over the course of the week – maybe at dinner or a time after dinner. Or, if your schedule is such that morning is better – do it. This devotional is a guideline to grow and share together each week as we approach Christmas.
We have included a Christmas Day devotional to complete the set. We suggest purchasing a white candle to represent the “Christ Candle” to be lit during the 12 Days of Christmas. Jesus tells us He is the "Light of the World" and lighting this candle is a representation and reminder of this. Participating in this way is a reinforcement of this very important reminder of our Lord.
One of our customers received hers and wrote : "I received the advent season devotions! They are amazing and so thoughtful . I love that the questions are not just quick one word answers but make me think about what Jesus means to me and what I mean to Him. Thank you so very much for sending this to me. Thank you again for sharing with me this exquisite blessing of our faith."
We pray that you will be blessed as you dig deep into the Advent Season and prepare for Christ's coming.
