This is a Caribbean wood, growing in the Dominican Republic, Belize, Guatemala, Cuba, Jamaica and Southeastern Mexico. The color of this dense wood ranges from an amber to deep brown with some occasional red, orange or dark streaks. What makes this wood unique is that the grain is very dense, so it polishes up very nicely. It is a hard wood, about twice as hard as white oak. Additionally, this wood has a characteristic of having "depth" to the color so it has an illusion of being able to "see" into the wood when we buff it. This is a beautiful hardwood and feels very smooth in your hand.
