Spikenard (Nardostachys grandiflora; also called nard, nardin, and muskroot) is a flowering plant that grows in the Himalayas of China, India and Nepal. The plant grows to about 1 m in height and has pink, bell-shaped flowers.
Spikenard rhizomes (underground stems) can be crushed and distilled into an intensely aromatic, amber-colored essential oil, which is very thick in consistency.
Mary of Bethany broke the alabaster jar containing 16 ounces (a pound of Nard) of this oil and poured it over Jesus. She wiped it up with her hair. See John 12.
Oils are presented in a glass bottle holding 1/4 ounce each.
CAUTION : the glass containers of the oil ARE NOT ROLL-ON! They are open on the top and can pour easily into a smaller container or use by putting your index finger on top of the bottle. Ensure your finger is tight on the bottle and turn it upside-down to wet your finger. Turn the bottle upright and remove your finger and you will have oil on your fingertip for an anointing.
We package your oil in an organza bag as shown in the picture along with our StoryScroll related to HoldingCross.com and a StoryScroll related to Anointing. The Scrolls are full of information that we help to educate you in the use of the oil and include suggestions and prayers for you as your grow in this ministry.
